In an era of rapidly advancing digital transformation, Universitas Riau continues to demonstrate its commitment to becoming an adaptive, visionary campus that is ready to embrace the future. Through the Socialization of the Implementation of Digital Diplomas and Academic Transcripts, held on 8 December 2025, UPA TIK Universitas Riau provided deeper insights into the importance of academic document digitalization as the foundation of a modern, transparent, and sustainable university governance system. The event was lively and engaging, attended by students, the UPA TIK team, and the SANDI development team who tirelessly work to deliver the best innovations for the academic community.
The Rector of Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, SE, M.Si, represented by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mexsasai Indra, SH, MH, officially opened the event. In his remarks, he emphasized that digitalization is no longer merely an option but a necessity in today’s fast-evolving technological landscape. “The direction of global development is moving away from physical formats and shifting toward digital formats, including academic documents,” he stated with conviction. His statement highlighted the strategic importance of Universitas Riau’s efforts to adopt digital systems as part of aligning with global changes.
Furthermore, Dr. Mexsasai Indra explained that the issuance of Digital Diplomas and Transcripts offers a much stronger layer of security compared to conventional documents. Supported by electronic signatures and digital verification systems, each diploma issued is not only legally valid but also protected against forgery and can be verified at any time by authorized parties. “With the implementation of digital diplomas and transcripts, service efficiency also increases, as alumni can access their academic documents more easily,” he added, emphasizing that this innovation not only strengthens governance but also enhances user convenience.
On this occasion, the event also served as an important moment for UPA TIK Universitas Riau to introduce updates to the SANDI application, the authentication and diploma digitalization system that has become the backbone of the university’s digital academic processes. These updates are designed to provide faster, more transparent, and more responsive service experiences. SANDI now offers a new capability to send finalized diplomas directly to students' email addresses, ensuring graduates receive their official documents without obstacles. Additionally, the document signing process, which previously required more time, has now become significantly more efficient through bulk digital signature automation, enabling thousands of documents to be processed in a much shorter period. Moreover, SANDI is now equipped with a digital signature tracking feature that allows students to monitor the progress of their academic documents in real time—a form of transparency that further strengthens public trust in Universitas Riau’s academic services.
The entire socialization program was met with great enthusiasm from participants, ranging from students to internal teams committed to ensuring the sustainability of digital transformation within the university. Participants actively engaged in discussions, asked questions, and offered constructive feedback, reflecting a collaborative spirit in realizing a better academic system. The event not only served as a platform for delivering information but also became a space of inspiration that encouraged all attendees to take part in this journey of change.
Through SANDI, Universitas Riau once again proves that innovation is not solely about technology, but also about delivering added value to the academic community, building trust, and preparing graduates to meet the demands of an increasingly digital professional world. With the significant steps continually being taken, Universitas Riau moves forward with confidence toward a more effective, modern, and impactful academic governance system for the future of education in Indonesia.
