UPT TIK University of Riau Holds Network Workshop for Faculty, Institute, and Unit PICs
The Information and Communication Technology Technical Implementation Unit (UPT TIK) of the University of Riau organized a Network Workshop for all Network PICs (Persons in Charge) from faculties and institutes within the University of Riau on July 17–18, 2023.
The workshop was officially opened by Dr. Iswadi Hasyim Rosma, ST, MT, PhD, Head of UPT TIK. Training materials were delivered by the Head of the IT Infrastructure Division of UPT TIK, with 35 participants attending each day.
This Network Workshop was part of UPT TIK’s initiatives to enhance the skills of Network PICs across faculties and institutes, equipping them with knowledge on how to utilize various network applications that can be implemented in their respective faculties and institutes.
The materials covered started from basic topics, including IP Address configuration, subnetting, network simulation/emulation (PNETLab), initial switch configuration, VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel/Link Aggregation/Bonding, user management, Telnet, SSH, and TFTP.
The role of Network PICs is vital to the University of Riau, as they contribute significantly to the delivery of information and communication technology services across all faculties and units. In recent years, UPT TIK has been committed to improving and developing IT infrastructure in faculties and institutes throughout the University.
Looking ahead, UPT TIK hopes to offer training not only offline but also online, allowing for broader reach and accessibility.
